"If the latest dump isn't sufficient, or there is no database dump available, a local administrator can request one by clicking the "Send request" button." I'm just wondering if you could request one for me?
No problem. I'm excited to have someone else working on it. I got busy with other projects and have yet to get back to it. I've only read the first volume and then got overwhelmed. Its a wonderful story and definitely needs more attention. Maybe I'll go back to reading it now that my editing job with Rakuin no Monshou is over.
Please let me know if you have any trouble, especially with with the infoboxes or templates.
Thanks for the backup ! Please do check it out , the hype skyrocketted during volume two onwards !
I probably won't make that many edits, English isn't my native and I can't really write description without being too verbose. maybe I'll do just simple note on some key characters so I could look back and remember who it was when his/her name was mentioned later on. Maybe I would also try to keep tracks of 'Cards of fate' that MC picks up along his journey.
My main reason to occasionally contribute is because I've read translated The amber sword around a year ago (up to Volume 3 chapter ~10) and decided to put it on hold because I like to read in batch. Then along the way I ended up learning Chinese for another reason, and I thought it'd be a good idea to re-pick use this novel as reading material practice. And as you know, the timeline and worldbuilding is so huge for this novel so I figured I could update the wikia so I could also search for stuff I may have forgotten.
The Translated version originally referred to Warrior grade 1 as "Black steel" rank, Then in a few chapters "Black steel" rank was never mentioned again, and now we have "Iron" rank. Then I checked the original source and both "Black steel" rank & "Iron" rank is referred as "黑铁" so I know both are the same. The same goes for "Cantrip" & Middle ranked Wizard (中级 rank)
Another reason I might not contribute much is because I haven't finished to series and I'm afraid I might see spoilers (I really hate being spoiled accidentally) from users/anon comment XD
P.s. Your Timeline and event page really helped me a lot. I also apprecitates the art gallery page (Would've bought the books myself to collect illustrations if they weren't so darn hard to find).
I learned a lot from making the Tales of Demons and Gods wikia and have mostly been using the same stuff here. I appreciate anything you do, so don't worry about it (besides you might get me back into working on).
Your edits look great. I don't know Chinese at all and the translator doesn't respond to questions, so I really appreciate you adding the names. When inconsistencies come up (like Blacksteel vs Iron) its always helpful to add a reference. I encourage you to reference anything that might need it as it really helps later readers understand what is going on or where to find things. The reference that you already added to the Grade page is perfect and I went ahead and added two more for the change in warrior and magician names.
It appears that your using the visual editor. That is fine, but if you want to see the code you can go into the classic editor. I find it easier when I have to add references, but that is my personal preference.
You can add page links by surrounding the page name with two brackets. like this:
It looks like the website changed. All the old references links are still good, but I should probably go back and switch them over to the new ones... fun...
I went ahead and fixed the format on Origin page. Nothing was wrong, I just like keeping the stuff that happened in the game before hand in a separate section.
If you look in the classic editor you can see the code for that and the reference link. For the references, you can always copy and paste the code and then just change the parts that need to be changed for the new reference. That is the easiest way I have found.
Do you think highlighting a character minibox with darkred for all dead/destroyed characters might be a bit spoilery? Maybe if someone who hasn't read the most recent chapter came to this page to look up for character 'A' , but then accidentally notices that character 'B' will definitely end up dead on most recent translated chapter (because the red color minibox indicate so) .
I'm not sure how hard but is it possible to have the same minibox color as default setting, then have the button for user to click to reveal more spoilery status (Dead/Destroyed/Actually undead in disguise, etc) by having the darkred colored minibox? It's not urgent so if wikia doesn't support this then I'll think of something later.
P.s. I've been trying to learn wikia formatting from TDG wikia which i've kept it on hold (read up to around ~ch200-ish because author slowed down the pace so I want to make sure he could finish the story) then I accidentally spotted that Ye zhiyun's father is apparently dead :(
There really is no good way around it. I just put a big warning on the main page that the wikia is updated to the latest translated chapter and was very strict about raw spoilers (of course now we are caught up so that isn't really an issue anymore).
Mainly I made changes to your Template:Mini_Box & Then add toggle button on character catagory page. This should be the simplest way I could think of without the need to re-edit your previous layout. So it should be easy to revert back should there be some part I overlook that breaks previous stuff.
If you think the concept works then I'll try to fix the layout properly later on. (Though CSS is my weakest so I'm not too sure I could fix it soon .) At the moment the 'toggle' button aren't too obvious yet so I might do something about that too.
I am trying to work on it, but it is slow. TAS translation is musch further along, and I'm just trying to play catch-up a little. I'm hoping to get the first book done soon. Then I feel like I can step back a bit and work on some of the details.
